Walking down the driveway, aiming for my sanctuary by the fig tree on the north end of the cieling on the vineyard, carrying my notebook, I see him sitting under the green branches, the ocean hovering over the cement wall, about a foot over his head would be, like a dark version of the heavens. His notebook is open on his knees, writing something down. I stop at the bottom of the drive and look at him. He looks up at me, blinks, then smiles at me, a smile that I know well. The scene flickers, changes before my eyes, and I am thrown back to a time long ago. I am on the south end of the building now, looking over the ocean a moment, taking a breath, and turning back to the party. Lights hang from tree branches, from the balcony. Women are dressed in their fanciest evening wear, men are dressed in black ties and tuxes. He comes towards me to say hello.... Joseph. We dance the night away before the ball ends. We've known each other, but we are, and have been, forbidden to see each othe...

Sitting on a branch of the fig tree, I gaze to the east, watching to horizon, where the calm, dark ocean meets the light sky. I lean to the trunk, with one arm around the trunk and the other around my legs. A cool breeze rushes up to me, through the branches and moving the leaves, the slightly salty tinge to it tickling my nose gently. I inhale deeply, taking in the crisp, clean smell. I lean closer to the trunk and close my eyes. I open them again and gaze at the vines below me. The view from this fig tree is amazing... being able to see a part of the vineyard and my little part of the Mediterranean is the best part of being here, in the south of France. This is my little place on this world.

Hi, my name is Charlotte. My blog is where you can see into my life, into memories I don't have but I want, and memories I do have. It is somewhere you can actually see things come to life in the written word, not as a movie. So, get carried away. See things as I see them, see the words as pictures. Enjoy yourself and thank you for taking time to read this.

i hope when he looks at the night sky, with the twinkling stars, he thinks of me. i hope when he sees the brightest stars, he sees my eyes. i hope when he feels the warmth of the sun on his face, he sees my smile and feels the warmth of my hugs. i hope when he feels the wind he feels my lips whispering "i love you" in his ear. i hope when he is on the beach, he feels me near to his heart. i hope he thinks of me as the spring changes to summer and the summer changes to fall. i hope he never forgets me.

the light flashes bright against the dark, inky blue of the night sky, blinking out the stars for a moment, before it goes dark. i sit in the crow's nest, waiting for the light to flash again. i shiver gently in my coat as the cool breeze slides by, trying to sneak into the warmth in my coat. i see the light again. though i wonder what shore we are near, i need to go tell someone. i hop over the wall and free fall for a moment before my fingers wrap around the knots in the rope. i climb down the ratlines that reach straight for the deck. i climb down fast, the deck raising at the same rate i fall to it. i finally am able to jump to the deck, my feet making a dull thud on the wood. i see the second mate come out of the fo'castle and i run to him to tell him i saw the lightbeam of a lighthouse. he has been warned... i climb back up the ratlines to my post in the crow's nest, only to watch the dark horizons until day breaks, when the sun comes up, staining the clouds and the s...
