She learned she was supposed to move about a week and a half ago; in that time, her parents had moved everything from their old house to their new one. She wasn't happy at all; her last year of high school was going to start and she had to change school; she didn't want to leave her friends and all the familiarity behind. The only one good thing was that she was going to have a bigger room, more space, for herself.
The day they moved, she grabbed the last small bag of her personal belongings, and went into the car with her 'rents. It took awhile to get there - it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere. She didn't understand; why were they moving so far out of the way? It didn't make sense... unless her parents were punishing her for that time she went out with her friends, and... well, it was a night that nobody talked about.
They got to the house, finally, about three hours they left the old one. It was large, spooky... almost haunted looking. It was dark, surrounded by a thick forest. The road went uphill both ways. She didn't even know where the closest house was, let alone the grocery store.
Walking up to the door, she didn't know what to expect. The door was large and almost demeaning. She wanted to know who (or what, for that matter) would answer the door. No, wait... she didn't. She didn't think she could handle it.
The door opened, slowly, with a creak. Just inside the doorway was a creepy hunchbacked doorman. He was silent, almost blended in with the shadows and the house itself. As she past him, shivers ran down her spine. She wanted to get away from him... too late, he motioned that she follow him to her room. Even though it was only two minutes to her room, it felt like hours. The creep wouldn't move fast enough. Up the grand staircase that had cobwebs... the chandeleir on the cieling was covered in dust and spiderwebs.

Going adventuring, she went out into the woods. It was late evening and she went alone with just a flashlight. She didn't know how late she would be out. Better safe than sorry.
There was a path, and she followed it. It went on for awhile, and she didn't know where it led, but she kept on it. She loved being outside, so she didn't mind.
Crackle. She jumped. She hadn't expected anyone to be out here with her. But she knew what she heard - at least what she thought she heard. She thought it was her imagination. Walking, she shook it away.
Crackle. She heard it again. This time she couldn't ignore it. She was absolutely sure she heard it this time. Looking around, she didn't see anything, but shadows and trees. She couldn't have imagined what she heard... it was clear as day. But her eyes told her differently. Oh well... she kept walking, moving forward.
Crackle...crackle. She wasn't imagining it... the leaves were crackling just behind her. She looked behind her, and thought she saw a shadow move. No, she was certain it moved. Remembering her flashlight, she turned it on and flashed it where she saw the shadow. There was nothing. How was there nothing? She was certain it had been there.
She turned and kept walking. She was uncertain about being outside now. She walked faster, trying to get away. But she wasn't fast enough. Something flew at her... and knocked her down. That shadow, that imaginary thing, had knocked her down. And she couldn't fight... she couldn't...
